FailedBreakout

Concept

Not every breakout is genuine. FailedBreakout is built for trap-like moves where price briefly pushes through a recent high or low, fails to continue, and snaps back through the level.

Idea

For longs, the strategy looks for a downside sweep below a recent rolling low followed by a reclaim back above that broken area. For shorts, it looks for an upside sweep above a recent rolling high followed by a move back below it. Optional close confirmation can make the trigger stricter.

Genetic Algorithm Parameters

• Lookback period for recent highs and lows
• Minimum breakout distance in pips
• Minimum reclaim distance in pips
• Optional close confirmation

Best suited for

Liquidity sweeps, false breaks, and reversal-prone range edges

Less effective in clean momentum breakouts that continue without snapping back
